I went to their site to download some drives. You know what? Now they have a friggin' download queue like some of the game demo download sites.
All I want to do is download a friggin' driver for one of their cards and I have to wait because there's 172 people in front of me? What kind of BS is that?
Thanks goodness for driver sites.

I hear ya FP. I no longer have any creative crap in my system and will refuse to do so. The last to go was the soundcard and all it's conflicts. Why people buy there products is beyond me.

The Creative SoundBlaster hey-day is over. They used to be the standard of the industry, but no more.
I was ELATED to ditch my SB Live Gamer+ card when I upgraded mobos. The onboard C-media on this IWill XP333 sounds just as good without any of the IRQ sharing hassles or driver problems.

Well, the download queue is kinda annoying, but you won't have to wait for long, it should start within 10 minutes.
I think that the Audigy is still one of the best choices for gamers though there're better choices for those in need of professional recording.

Herc GTXP! thats all i gotta say... Blows the SB Live! outta the water and from what others have told me puts the Audigy to shame as well. I was using the Cmedia for a while. Had this Herc just sitting here decided to install it one day and the sound quality to me was like night and day. I've got a set of Z560's and you could really tell the difference in these speakers from one card to the next... the cmedia is very good for onboard and definately better than the lives! were...

Yeah, I've long since sworn off Creative. Any system I build that needs a sound card gets a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (which uses the same chip as the Herc GTXP).

I got my GTXP before the Audigy came out. I haven't felt the need to upgrade yet. I don't know if you could really say there is anything consumer level yet that would be an upgrade. I saw a comparison between the GTXP and Audigy and if I remember right they were so close that I think in some things one edged out the other and vice versa.

the download Q would be ok if when you are downloading you get like over 200k but it has been 40-50k for me the few times I have tried/tested it. kind of annoying.

The CS4630 (the DSP used in the GTXP and Santa Cruz) supports standard DLS banks.

I have the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and love the card also, and I will never go back to CL. Crappy drivers and too much conflicts with hardware. Even the cheap $15 pci generic cards work better and have no issues.

That's what I call "creative" downloading.

My last was a 5.1 platinum that caused nothing but problems. Bought a Herc Game Theater 6.1 and could never be happier!

I'm with you guys, Creative can take a long walk off a short pier!

I choose the (Rest of Asia) when I want to D/L something from Creative.
The one in the US just sucks..
