my monitor i think is crappin out on me =( it'll go fine, then it like waves and gets smaller, and smaller till it blacks out, and i can't do anything. i turn it off, wait a bit then turn it back on. sometimes it works sometimes not. its a G-2k EV500, fairly old. does this sound like anything familiar? i searched on google, could this be what trembling is? is it fixable? cheaper to go with a new monitor?

also, one quick question about vid cards. how do u flash the bios on them? TIA

sounds like the ol' death rattle - check the deals boards and see what's on sale - we some real nice 17" compaqs at work for like 80 after rebate

If it's a real nice monitor might be worth taking to a TV repair shop and getting it fixed. Chances are it's a transistor in the high voltage section. Might be under $100.

Find a small mom & pop place that will give you a free estimate.

you just need to keep an eye of anandtech hot deal, apex, etc. and see what's out there - all we really have around here is a staples and an office max - i have several of the 17" envision monitors from staples at home and paid around $70 for them when they were on special - also some of the other places like buy.com have clearance (free shipping) monitors that are a decent deal - i have a 17" hp i got there for like 150 about two years ago and it's probably the best quality of the bunch - also dell has decent free shipping offers and prices from time to time - usually i recommend that you get it locally if you can, because it there's is a problem they are a pain to pack and ship - we had 7/14 viewsonics fail here in 3 years so i am an expert on that!

If you have a Walmart nearby check them out. The super stores usually will have computer monitors. I've seen some damn good prices on monitors there sometimes.
