I need an exploded view of a Compaq 715US Laptop. Something that would show me how to get the cas open so I can put some AS3 on the proc. HP/Compaq wasn't much help.

What to you need a pic for? Just take a screwdriver to all the screws on the bottom and start a-screwing. :)

And I hope your not hoping for much of a difference in temps on the thing. Laptops aren't known for their ventilation.

I done took out all the screws on the bottom. Still won't come apart. When I run UD or F@H, it overheats and shuts down. I know Compaq probably used some cheap goop or thermal tape on it.

some laptops (like the compaq i'm typing on right now) also have vertical locking tabs between some of the keys on the keyboard. the one i'm using has 4...in the function key row. they slide toward/away from the screen if you are looking down at the keyboard. this is to remove the keyboard (after removing some screws as well).

You check their website? They might have service manuals for download.

No service manuals posted, only parts listed by name and number. Not any pics at all.

Nascar have you tried downloading the new firmware for the battery for your compaq laptop. I have compaq laptop that had same trouble anytime i would run my processor at full load like running setti and something else or playing game it would reset itself or turn off for no reason. I had another glitch of my keyboard just locking itself. I called compaq and complained to them what kind of product are they trying to sell here, i have an old gateway laptop that heats up but never shuts down by itself. Compaq told me to download firmware for battery and it worked. in order to avoid hassle of looking for the driver page for your laptop hit the Fn key and the F1 at the same time it will open compaq site for your laptop and drivers and manuals will appear there.

Yep, I installed the updates some time ago. They say if it still overheats, it needs to go in to be repaired. Might have to take it in and have BestBuy fix it up.
