Anyone with an IWill XP333 try the new CMedia driver yet?

Windows Update (for Win2K) has a driver update posted. I was wondering if anyone's tried it yet?
The ones off the mobo install CD are working great so far, but I haven't done any major gaming yet (sound sweet listening to Shoutcast and my MP3s though).
This CMedia chip sounds NICE... I'm glad to be finally upgrading to a mobo with a decent onboard sound card so I can ditch the damn SBLive.
The SBLive's been a disappointment. None of the Creative drivers EVER sounded good on it (Winamp pops and sputters like crazy) - been using the generic driver Doc Silly recommended a while back which work much better.
Also, I had to disable ACPI on my old system to get the SBLive to work which is annoying.

I don't run the Cmedia i love my Herc GTXP

But when i did use the cmedia it always seemed like the MS updates screwed it up. I'd lose 1 channel or the rear channels with the MS update drivers. You best bet would be to just go to cmedia's site and get the newest 5.1 drives they have. Iwill's site is never up to date with drivers so that would be the last place to check. for onboard sound you cannot beat the Cmedia. It does sound really good. Not as good as my GTXP which is why its in there but much better than the ever so hated SB Dead...

I am not using the ALI chipset, I have K266a but I do have the on board C-Media sound and have real good luck with the drivers off of Windows Update. I got the new 6.39 drivers for WinXP off of the update site last week and they made a big improvement over and already good sounding set up.

I'm not running an XP333 but my Iwill P4R533N has the same CMedia chip; the drivers in Windows Update work fine for me.

What are you using for speakers on the Iwill xp333?
I haven't even plugged in my extra sound stuff yet here. Only have a 2 speaker set, but planning to get a 5.1 or 6.1 set soon!
Would have had tham already but had to do some traveling and darned van tranny acting up now
Sounds good even on my old 2 speakers.
Anyone tried tried wiring a plug on good old large stereo speakers and pluging them into a 5.1?
I have some pretty nice old large stereo speakers, but don't want to fry the c-media on the board if it can't power them.
Don't know whats in the case, but speaker case is 2'x3' several large speakers and a small one.

I installed them for Xp, but haven't turned the speakers on yet. I'll find out after work today.

I have a pair of nice Harmon Karmon powered speakers with a subwoofer, but I'm mostly a headphone user. I have a nice expensive pair of Sony studio monitor phones.
I'm not interested in a surround system - not practical in my environment. When I'm gaming I'm on headphones, and the speakers are for listening to music while I work.
CANTON_KID: Most modern sound cards don't have a built-in speaker amp. There's only enough signal to drive a pair of headphones. If your speakers aren't powered then you'll need to use an amplifier.
