Sure i can call them about this but you know ill get some bull story so i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get around this fair act policy (Legaly of course)... They cut me back to almost 56k if i take up alot of bandwidth... whats the point in paying for it if i cant use it? Right?

I was not to sure where to post this question...Hope this is fine :)

Personally I don't like direc pc! BEWARE!!
I used them last year, told them in sept. last year to shut off the service, last bill I got showed I owed over $400?? Gee I wonder if the service is still on?? If they're never going to shut it off for non-payment, why pay?? I changed over to monthly billing instead of that credit card autopay crappola soon as I got signed up. Was supposed to cost an extra $5 a month for billing, but it might have saved me several hundred if they won't shut it off when you tell them to!! So beware off that! And no, when I signed up there was no long term 1yr or 2 yr contracts involved!

As far as the fair use, it sucks, but I was told if you get cut back to 56k for exesive downloads (like napster when it was up) then go off line about an hour or two and then you get back to high speed again. I never got cut back though, but that's what I was told by their tech support. Still a bunch of bull anyway, your paying for highspeed, you should get highspeed!!

I got fed up when had a website online and had to disconnect and call back online using just a modem because of some conflict where the webservers could not verify my system when using the dish. I could not log into my own site FTP to upload my files when using Direc PC, even if I shut down the dish and went modem.
I had to actually hang up and dial back in modem only. Of course that meant I could not download at high speeds when slowly uploading all my files, so who needs them?? I was doing more uploads than down, so I couldn't use them anyway most the time!

Also the upgrade offer to 2way was a rip!! Was supposed to be a good deal, but it was a ripp off! Pay now and when ever we get around to it we'll install you a twoway dish?? Still had to have a modem installed to active the dish and set up the account?? Why would I want a modem installed in my system if I am using a 2 way dish?? And whats that pay $500 now and sometime durring the next 2-3 months you might get your 2way dish at $80 a month, on a long term contract at that??

I liked the dish when I first got it, but after a few months I started having trouble with them, was ticked about the rippoff upgrade offer, then when I went online with my websites and couldn't FTP my files it was the last straw. And now nearly a year after telling them to shut it off I still get bills!!! Another $40 added each month!!

It could be a decent service if they got their act together, unfortunaley their not High Tech enough to figure out how to bypass a modem yet with a satalite dish, and their billing department ain't very good either!!
