Update: problem with XP1800+

Post by sabwafare2001 »

First I had a 1.0ghz t-bird installed, then I got a XP1800+. The t-bird ran at 133/133, but the 1800+ will only run at 100/100 or 100/133. The only time the 1800+ will run at 133/133, is after I clear the BIOS, the set it to 133/133 from 100/100, then it will post or boot. After I clear the BIOS, I have to leave the jumper off for it to work. While the 1800+ is at 133/133, I can reboot it as many times as I want, but if I cut the computer completely off, then it will not post or boot when I try to cut it back on. I have pc2100 memory, a Allied 400W psu which is on the AMD recomended list, and I know it's not the heatsink bcause the temps are 37 degrees. I think it could be the motherboard or the psu. Thanks for your help.

Any chance the motherboard could be shorting on the case ? I had that happen before with an Asus board and a T-bird 1.33GHz. It would only run at 10x100 when grounded. At 10x133 it would toss out illegal ops on anything and everything.
