Why? Well I am not actually building dead computers if that what you think
I want the parts inside the case. I think most the time the inverters are still good, but the battery and surge protection may be shot..
Since I am on the end of the power grid here and lose power all the time, (3 times in the last 24hrs, for like 2 minutes each or less) , I plan to put in a battery bank for long term power and want inverters.
It would probably be more practical to use one big invertor for the whole house, but I don't want to.
I would like to run a 12v line (or several) to various places where I need the UPS, and run an inverter at each location. This way I can easily shut down anything that is not needed durring a long power outage (we have those too). Also with seperate invertors I can use seperate battiery banks, like put my main system on a larger bank and everything else on other banks. I might be sitting in the dark after 2 days of no power, but dog gone I'll still have my system running!
Thats the problem with everything on one big inverter, it all runs till the batteries go dead, then it all quits! With several battery banks and inverters you can controll whats important and whats not alot easier. And what better inverter for a computer, Tv, Stereo, etc... than a UPS inverter?
I figure most people just through them away when the battieries go dead and buy new, so there should be a supply of supplies out there somewhere waiting to be had!
