Not sure if its just the one i have or its just standard thing compaq does? I ordered me EvoN115 with compaq ipaq 3850. Now problem is when i right click on my computer to see who its registered to and who manufactured under the processor name it says 489mhz. when it suppose to say 1.2ghz and for the ram i have 128mb ram but says i have 112. This is odd should i call compaq and ask them what is going on here.

Dude laptops throttle their cpu's to conserve power. If the laptop only needs 500mhz to run thats all it will use. If it needs 100% of CPU power it will run at 1.2Gig... Just a way to conserve battery and make it last as long as possible.

Right now its plug into the ac adaptor and the compaq rep is like it should not go that low to 489mhz from 1.2ghz. Man compaq has fast tech support

I have a Compaq with a 1.2GHz Athlon 4 with PowerNow and it does the same thing. If you want it to run at full power all the time, get into the Power Options in the control panel and change it from Portable/Laptop to Home/Office Desk in the power schemes. I had to go back to the Portable/Laptop scheme due to having no a/c in the house.
Don't forget to go to
http://www.compaqordercenter.com/freeQR and get a free Quick Restore CD. I got one with my lappy but I'll take a free extra one if it's offered.
*EDIT* Might be for Presario only.

If the PowerNow setting is on "Automatic mode", it WILL throttle down to 500 MHz even when plugged in. If you set it to "High performance mode" it'll stay ar 1200.

Same here. This is the best laptop I've ever owned. I like it better than my wifes Sony VAIO 900MHz Duron. By the way, her Duron also has PowerNow. I think Intel has a chip that has "Speed Stepping" . ? ? ?
