Do you mean a firmware update or a DVD software player?

Is this a fairly new DVD drive ? It comes up as a 12x. If you are using at least a P2-350 or above, you don't need a DVD decoder card. What you need is WinDVD (my favorite), PowerDVD or a different DVD playing software. Can you post your system specs and what OS you are using ?

IBM Deskstar 60Gig HD (7200RPM)
Logitech TrackMan Live (Wireless Trackball Mouse)
Intel Wireless Basestation/Mouse/Gamepad
Plus a Silver Handle I never put on yet (Il let you put it on)

Do what Nacar Fool said and get rid of the decoder card and pick up WinDVD or something like it and you should be good to go.

The ATI card should have come with a software DVD player. Available from ATI

*Edit* It might be a problem due to the "uninstalled" silver handle.

use the original ati cd that came with the card. it will also ask for the numbers on the front side of the cd, so write those down before you insert the cd.

he pitched all the cd because xp had all the drivers he needed
but im not running xp
its a beta ver called windows.net
the guy that i got this boxis a beta steter for microshaft

well then your screwed using ATI DVD player off of their site cause you need the CD to use it and a serial off of the CD. Get WinDVD or Power DVD and that is all you should need.
