pc as a cheap hdtv decoder?

i saw THIS adapter available and got to thinking...couldn't you use this attached to a barebones system w/ a decent video card and tv tuner card (w/ coax input for cable tv) and get hdtv broadcasts on your hdtv? it would be equal/less than the $500+ hd decoders.

just wondering...

BAH. American HDTV is a joke. It's INTERLACED for God's sake. Another example of f@ck up by committee.

I don't think you could. That device appears to only be a component out adapter for your PC. It doesn't say anything about being an HDTV decoder. My impression is that this device would allow you to use your PC as a DVD player with compnent output (which looks far better than coax or RCA), and nothing more. I could be wrong though. :o
