I beleive I posted this same problem when I was running XP...basically the scroll wheel only works in IE, but when I'm in a folder (like my music folder) and the scroll does nothing. I'm running Windows 2000 now, and I have a Intellipoint Opticle. I never had this problem when I was running 98SE...is this a known problem? Is there a fix for it?

Intellipoint Mice have built in support from WinXP...

Are you using PS2 or are you using USB?

I'm using USB...you say that XP supports Intellipoints, but I'm running 2000...I assume the same rule does not apply.

98, ME, 2K & XP all support Intellipoint mice natively. The wheel will work with all standard Windows (IE, Explorer, etc) and with all Windows apps that support the wheel (Office 2000 or above, etc).

You don't need the Intellipoint software unless you want the advanced features like legacy wheel support for programs that don't recognize the wheel.

Your wheel should work in all Explorer windows including control panel. Frankly I can't imagine why it would work in IE and not in Explorer.

Some versions of the Intellipoint software have caused me problems (although I'm running 4.0 with Win2K here and it works fine). Try uninstalling the software and see if that fixes it.
