I just bought a set of Klipsch 4.1 speakers . Right now I am using the C-Media onboard sound . I have a SB Live value collecting dust on a shelf . Which should I use ? Or should I try to buy one of thoses Phillips Acoustical Edge cards ? Thanks

For onboard sound it is hard to beat the C-Media chip. In my opinion it is better than the SBLive. I hear things in games that I never heard with my SBLive.

There's different versions of c-media but the one I use is 8738 5.1 sound and as dad says, it is better than sblive. Sounds are fuller and more real.

Thanks guys for the input . I have 8738 5.1 version also . Guess I don't need to shell out anymore $$ for a sound card :D

I have a Herc GTXP siting here collecting dust. My XP333 has the 8738 5.1 as well as my Shuttle AK35GTR. I've just been lazy and haven't installed the GTXP but his cmedia for onboard sounds damn good. Get the drivers for it from cmedia itself my experience is most of the drivers you get fraom the motherobard makers themselves kinda suck.
