YAMAHA SCSI CD-RW 24x10x40, MODEL# CRW3200SZ - RETAIL*Dual Interface Ultra SCSI and EIDE* Internal SafeBurn SCSI CD-R/RW drives offers 24x write, 10x rewrite & 40x read/audio ripping speeds, and audio master quality recording mode. 8mb buffer memory. 130ms average random access time.
found this at newegg while looking at a faster SCSI CDr.
I currently have a 8x SCSI and I do not want to get rid of my SCSI setup.
I looked at the pics of this drive and noticed that it is really just an IDE Drive with an adaptor to convert it to SCSI. Is this adaptor a common item? It would be nice to buy the IDE CDr of my choice and make it SCSI
Anyone have suggestions on SCSI CDrs?

There are no true SCSI drives anymore (AFIAK), all current "SCSI" optical drives are IDE drives with a built-in interface changer.

I use SCSI HDDs with a IDE cd-rom and IDE CDR and have no problems with either IDE cd drive. I wouldn't be too concerned with using IDE cd or DVD devices as it won't be a problem.

I just like having my entire IDE stuff disabled in the bios and not installed in the PC.
