I would try a local Mom and Pop TV repair shop many of them are now equiped to handle computer monitors and then you won't have to worry about shipping

Yes, always do it local, it's just stupid to ship it out.
These are my local prices with free pickup/delivery
14" usually cost around $45cdn($30us)
15" ~ $55cdn($35us)
17" ~ $75cdn($50us)
19" ~ $110cdn($75us)

Lucky you.
I can only find one walk-in place in ONTARIO that will service a computer monitor, and they charge too much for it to be worth my while.

And forgot one thing, the place in Vancouver has a "no fix, no charge" policy.
