Laptop motherboard, update if you have a dead HP read

Post by MoFo »

Ok here is the story :)

I picked up a dead HP Pavilion N3290 in very nice shape only thing is it would not power up. I get it home take it apart and find the the Motherboard has taken a surge.

Well I hit the net looking for a new motherboard or for someone to repair this. I found a few places that wanted to charge 100 bucks just to look at it and 2 places that said they had new ones for 600 bucks (MB that is)

Yes HP was the first place I call with no luck. So now im on ebay bidding on laptops that has dead screens and was always out bid (ebay fools pay way tooo much) anyway im bummed now so I call HP back.

After going up the food chain I find out that HP has a repair program, 298 to fix anything but the screen and 600 to fix a screen. So I send it in.

Now its 7 days later and fedEx brings it back. It now has a new MB, keyboard,DVD and a new IBM 6gig drive!!!! and BTW I put a dead 4gig in :) They put it back to the state it was in when it was new.

Hopes this helps someone :)

thnax

yeah checked out ebay and yahoo. I looked on google and did not find much mostly memory. I was hoping someone here would know a place.

I got this thing for $25 buck and it is in great shape.

I took the motherboard out last night and found the bad spot. Looks like it took a power surge :(

you can see it here

maybe some here can repair motherboards :D

thanx

Best bet would be to contact the manufacter, but I would guess you'd pay an arm and a leg for it :(
