ATX case connector to mb plugs--which is +?

Generally I place the mb connector with the identifying label facing out but all the mb manuals have alignment based on the + side of the connector. Is the white wire generally +?
Any better way to tell? I'd hope there's some better way than trial and error.

I assume you're talking about the header for the power switch, reset switch, HDD & power LED?
Polarity makes no difference whatsoever except for the LEDs. If you reverse the LED connectors you won't damage them - they just won't work.
There's no consistent standard that I've ever found. Just try them one way, then the other.

the wire colors (unfortunately) dont always seem to be a good indicator
look closely at the pin listings in the manual, then on the jumper itself look on the back side for a lil arrow...that designates +
