ok, i bought my new router today. its a D-Link DL-404P. i've played around with it, but i don't really know how to set it up so i can share internet with all my systems. im a little confused. what i know is that there is a IP number that the router has that all the systems connect into. the instructions in the manual are not that clear, but am i suspose to change the IP number of the router to the IP number of my cable internet provider in order to share the connection?
i think what im asking is, do i change the LAN IP address from the router provided IP # to the cable internet IP # in order to share the connection?
also, the computers upstairs attached to my hub that is connected to the router don't seem visible. i used a Cat 5 cable from the uplink port on the hub to a free port in the router...was there something else i was suspose to do?
im kinda lost...any guidance would be greatly appreciated....
thx.

set the router up to act as a DHCP server and set the computers connecting to the router to find the DHCP server. It will auto config everything and you should be set to go... I've got a Linksys BEFSR41 or something like that, thats all i had to do to mine. From what i hear most of them are the same.

for your clients:

as for configuring the router havent used that model myself but try from a browser window typing 192.168.0.1 in the address bar and seeing if your prompted for a password

btw...for each client just change the last digit under ip address
