AX7, OK to install while mobo is installed?

I may decide right now. I have two hours to get my computer together. I think it may run on into tomorrow, but I guess we'll see. The hardest part is getting the heatsink and compound all done. The HDD CDRom's and stuff are simple..

So, back to my post. Should I just installed the AX7 before I install the mobo, or just do the processor and AX7 after the mobo is installed?

Please reply quickly, I wanna to see if I can set a world record by completing my mod in 5 days.. :D (I highly doubt it). Thanks!

I haven't fumbled with anything that big, but I replaced my SK6 with a CAK II 38 while the mobo ( KR7A-RAID) was still in the case and didn't have any probs at all.

However....... I also changed an SK6 for a Swiftech MCXC 370 while on a Shuttle AK35GTR and it never booted again. :D

Always better to do it before you mount your mobo to be honest.

put that sucker in on mobo before you put it in the case. Make sure the mobo is on a hard surface. i usually put that anti satic bubble wrap bag that the mobo came in under it while putting on the cpu and heatsink.

good luck :)

I've done them both ways and never had a problem with them.... I have the Antec/Chieftec 1030B and i hate moving this heavy sucker!! And i really hate pulling out a mobo to put on a HSF so 90% of the time i put them on in the case. When i get a new mobo i'll put them on before hand.

Ok. I was planning on doing that anyway. That way you can look at the core and see how well the the core and the heatsink touch.

Thanks for the tips. :)
