Check the jumpers on both drives. What brand and model hard drive is it? You might have to connect both and then auto detect them in the bios.

its win 95 os. actually i have not tried any other ide cables cause it uses like some old ata cables and it dont accept new ata cables dont work on it. its like it dont fit. will go to store tommorow to try find a cable
but why does it work with hardrive only on both cables.

hmm, do you have the hard drive jumpered as master or as the only drive? Some have cable select and other ways to jumper it so be sure it's set to master only. With one jumper setting I believe it's meant to be just one drive on the ide channel so any other drives will not work. Worh a shot anyway. If the jumper settings aren't clear then I'd try various others.

sorry blade tried that already. Okay i see something weird when i hook up hardrives it has no problem detecting them but it wont detect cd-rom drive even if its only thing connected to ide cable. tried Slave, master, Cable select. Nuthing. It only detects hardrives.

Guys i was wondering okay if i network one of my computers to share cd rom drive with the old computer can i run cd rom just by double clicking on the cd rom shortcut from other computer. Assuming theres a cd in the cd-rom drive. would this work????
