I'm sick of my POS 17" monitor and I am looking at getting a new one. It must be at LEAST 19". Good 2D and 3D performance. I would really like it to be BRIGHT; I'm sick of not being able to see what I am looking at in dark corners of games. I would also like one with minimum reflections of lights and other things in the room. Suggestions or links to reviews would be great. Thanks.

Check out some other reviews/comparisons ... you might even want to try to find one of the editors choice monitors refurbished for cheap on an auction.
I've been quite lucky so far with refurbished monitors though YMMV ... my 21" Sony CPD-G500 is still running perfectly after ~2 years of usage and my former refurbished 21" Viewsonic is still working at a friends setup ...

Sitting here looking at a KDS Visual Sensations 19" and it has a VERY nice picture. So does my year old Mag 800V 19" (running dual monitors).

I'll keep my opinions on monitors listed thus far private but can say NEC has gone downhill. I bought my first NEC 17" in ... 1993 maybe? It sort of died half a year ago. The AccuSync70 I replaced it with is garbage.
I'm not current on parts of course, but Nanao and Illyama (sp?) were always good. Sony too but those two black lines drive me crazy

FWIW Reliability means FAR more to me than the image they measure with instruments for comparison tests. If the image doesn't flicker, and supports the refresh rate and resolution I want what more is there in life for a monitor?

Upon looking at the link to CNET's Top 5 19" Monitors I'd have to comment that I own number 5 and just LOVE it. *I went from a piece o crap 15" monitor to this 19" and have fell in love. The on-screen controls are great. 2D quality is great. I have no complaints really except maybe the refresh rates at higher resolutions (max 65 hz at 1600x1200) But for the price it is a great monitor. I got it for $320 plus $70 in rebates, even though I haven't received my rebates yet......

I also own number 5 on cnet, the Samsung 955DF, and it is a great 19' monitor. I got it for $240 at BestBuy

Sucks bluewhale had problems with NEC. I have an FP950 and am using BNC cables and text is extremely clear, colors are nice, it's just a beautiful monitor and couldn't ask for more

Samsung 900NF - beautiful monitor, or Viewsonic PF975. I have the PF775 and it is very nice. the corners are a tad bit fuzzy with some colors, but overall it is well worth the money.

any 19" with an Aperature Grille tube ( e.g. Sony ) . I'll go cheap on some things but monitors aren't one of them. You get what you pay for with monitors.

I got an Aperature Grille Dell (SONY) 19" Monitor off ebay. It's got an "almost" unnoticeable scratch (which I think I put in it, or my siblings) and ONE dead black pixel. All this for an awesome price of $185 including shipping. I don't know how much longer it will last (they said it was barely used). But, I agree with vidman, you get what you pay for. And the Trinitron's are sweet monitors.
