New heatsink: Coolermaster heatpipe or NEW Thermalright AX7?

I am looking for a new heatsink. My SK6 is becoming obsolete pretty quickly. With that, I am looking for a new heatsink. The new heatsink I want has to work well with quiet fans (30db and below). I don't know how much CFM that would be (since the heatpipe uses 60mm fans and the AX7 uses 80mm fans). I just wish there was an Ax7 that had the heatpipes like the Coolermaster, that would rock. I have been leaning towards the AX7 because you can use 80mm. And, obviously, you can get more speed with less sound on a bigger fan. But, I thought, since the Coolermaster Heatpipe has the heatpipes, maybe it has a competing chance. I main reason I want to do this is to get my computer quieter. With my upcoming big case mod (to impliment a fan bus to slow down my fans at night) I want the processor fan to be quiet. One other reason I am leaning towards the AX7 is the 3 prong clip and the rubber washers. Nice touch by Thermalright is you ask me.

How hard is that 3 prong clip to get off? I think I remember reading in blade's review that it is pretty tough.
Just looking for suggestions!
Thanks!

I would go for either the AX-7 or an Alpha 8045. I have the Alpha now and really like it. I never see temps over 43c under a load even when ambeint room temp is at 90f or higher. Plus with the mounting system it uses you dont have to worry about chipping your CPU core any more.

The AX-7 is better than the heatpipe even when using similar cfm fans. It's the best heatsink I have tried so far and the one I suggest over all others. Haven't tried the alpha though.
The worst thing with it is connecting the back clip to the mobo catch. The clip stays in a crevice so for anyone with larger fingers it might be a challenge. I had to use the tip of my finger sideways to get it on and even then it was tricky.
For getting it off just explain to it about the swedish bikini team, err uh just use a screwdriver to force the clip down as you press some on the heatsink and it comes right off the mobo catches with ease. So that part is easy.
The fan I'm using now on the ax7 is the Thermaltake TT 8025A-2B and it's very quiet. Puts out a rated 37cfm, but I think it's lower than that. I've heard panaflo fans are better but I've yet to test any.
And yes, all heatsinks should include a 3 prong clip.
The Volcano 7+ is another winner and I'm working on that review now. It comes with a 3 speed control for the fan and the heatsink is as good as the Cak II. Bad thing is the fan is only quiet on low, on medium and high it's like a lawnmower. And...just a 1 prong clip.

Cool. i don't even want to think of getting a Volcano 7+ because there's only one fan. I like to have variety..

Thanks for the comments blade and dad. Anyone else?

oh, well, looks like I'm getting an AX7.
Nexus, you are using the quiet Panaflo? Is it pretty quiet? Can't be heard over case fans? i don't know what 80mm fan to get yet... Hmm

Anyone know if these specs are accurate? Think that would cool the AX7 pretty well?

Or, should I just get a speed variable fan? All my other fans will be speed variable.. This way i could find JUST the right speed. What do you think?

Hows about this. Buy this fan
Sanyo and Ill give you a
Fan Control if you do a short review of it. And if you havent yet, order the ax-7 from KDC and remember to mention PCA in the comment section to save 2 bucks bringing it to $25. Those fans are pritty nice. I have 2 on my case and they are quiet when I have them on that speed thingy, actually anythign on that fan thingy is pritty neet.

even shuts deltas up.

Hmm, you really got me tempted...But, if i were to use that fan speed control for my heatsink, where would I put the fan control box? Do you know if the cords are really that short? I also have a fanbus I will be installing soon..

hmmm.... One other thing? how quick would you need the review? Before I change anything around, i will be modding my case.
Ah, something else.. You're using this fan (
http://www.kdcomputers.com/eui/xNuPJ0oB ... ponent.htm) and it cools better than the SK6 with the Thermaltake Vol2 fan?

you should be able to attach the buss to the back of the case ahd eithor align it with a little hole or cut a little hole so U can use the switch thingy easly enough. or the side panle. No rush on the review. I just dont want to Give it away.

I have a baybus also. was a pain in the but to setup and rout and extend all the cables. if I were to do it again, I would just get a few of these boxes instead.

So, the cords are pretty long? maybe I could get the 36cfm and 29db Sanyo Dnki instead? I don't know. Being able to have the extra 4-5 cfm when I need it would be cool. What i am aiming for is the possibility to leave my computer on 24/7 in my bedroom.. hmm..

I'll take it.

I will send you a PM with my address. But, if it's ok with you, I am going to get this fan:
http://sidewindercomputers.com/80clearulwit.html. That way, just in case it is too loud, I can always quiet it down. Not to mention it comes with a free fan guard and is a buck less. But, I may get the 42cfm Sanyo Denki if the price is right overall..
Actually, I just checked, and it would be a better overall cost if I get the Sanyo Denki, so the 42cfm fan it is!

Alrighty, just ordered my AX7 and Sanyo Denki 42.6 CFM 34DBA. They should be shipped out tomorrow. You should have that PM in your inbox right now.
Thanks again Nexus!
