I finally was able to pick up my new MB for work yesterday

Besides not having built in USB ports changes include 64 bit PCI slots ( tho I understand only SCSI controllers make use of this capability at this time ) and the removal of the chipset fan. I'm not surprised, as almost all of the ASUS boards I've bought with a chipset fan have had that fan start making noise or fail outright, but have to wonder how well a super heat sink will do in replacing the fan?

Has anyone noticed this trend ( removal of chipset fan ) on any other boards?

It will be F A S T. I just got the Tyan version of the same board. 1600MP flies. Just amek sure your power supply is big enough. ;)

And yes, the 64bit PCI slots are only used for high end storage controllers. I think you have to go all the way up to the 39160 from Adaptec to get 64bit bus.

The orage stickers on the fans need to go. Throws them out of balance. ;)

I've wondered about that. Logically I would think they would cause an imbalance. I don't always put them there. But in 12 years, 9 of which I built roughly 2 new systems a week, I never had a fan with a sticker on top fail. :)
As heat is really getting to be an issue I didn't wan to place them on the bottom of the CPU where I normally do. Nor on the top where I used to. And on the side of the fan casing the stickers just would not adhere thus... Top of the fan.
