Win2k BSODs... ASPI problem??

My new system keeps BSODing in Wink2k. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it; it doesn't occur every time I boot or anything. The BSOD message varies with each crash, but every time the following error is reported in the event log:

Error. Source: Service Control Manager EventID: 7000
The ASPI32 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

According to http://www.eventid.net, the system is trying to start the service and can't find the file as if it were deleted rather than uninstalled. This is a fresh install on a new hard drive, so I don't think that's the problem. It tells me to remove the entry from the service registry, but I don't know how to do that. Can someone point me to the service registry, please? The service doesn't appear in the "services" section of admin tools.

I have also been having problems getting my bunrer to install properly. Everytime I try to install the EZ CD Creator 4 (not 5 ) software it tells me my TSID is wrong. I'm wondering if these two aren't somehow connected. I'm going to try and run the Force_ASPI program and see what happens with that. Tips are helpful. Thanks.

GO HERE and download ForceASPI and the checker. Run the checker first to determine the problem, then the program to re-install your ASPI layer.

Also, Adaptec just released version 4.70 of ASPI for XP users. It works with Win98 and higher. It will not work with Win95. You can download it HERE Also, you no longer need to have a piece of Adaptec software installed to use this.
