So heres my problem. I didnt want to pump all my money into a GeForce 3 Ti500, so I was going to go with the GeForce 2 Pro.($100) Now they have released the GeForce 4, and the GeForce 3 prices have dropped a bit. I have read what people have said about the GeForce 3, and it doesnt seems worth the extra money, but what about the GeForce 4 ?

GeForce 4 is a GeForce3 on steroids. No new fetures just faster core and memry speeds. To me the best bang for the buck is a TI200 most seem to be able to over clock to TI500 speeds. I have a Gainward TI200 doing 240 core and 520 memery and I think the memery still has some more in it, just have not tried yet. Now that you have your first post under your belt hope to see ya post more.

What?!? Better read up on the new features the GF4 has over the GF3 dad.

Welcome to the forums ShibasScotch. ++

If you got the money the GeForce 4 Ti4600 and Ti4400 are the top peforming cards out now.

Unfortunately the better value GeForce 4 Ti4200 won't be released until the end of spring. Nvidia wants to clear the shelves and product line of Ti500's first.

The Radeon 8500 is the best bang for the buck. Before that it was the GeForce 3 Ti200 which has a great price/performance ratio.

welcome!

right now the 8500 is the best deal by far at ~$130 - almost as fast as the ti500 but dual display and better dvd decoding

I'd recommend a GF3 Ti-200. You'll be MUCH happier with it than with a GF2 and the price difference isn't all that great (around $140).

Thanks for the response, and yes, hopefully I will be posting alot. Although the 8500 is a good card, I have seen both a 7500 and a GeForce Ti200 in action, and the Ti200 seems to be better. So i think that ill either go for the Ti200 Ti500 or wait for the GeForce 4. Thanks again.

the 7500 Radeon and the 8500 radeon are light night and day... The 7500 is more like the Radeon vivo just a lil faster and yes i'd hope a ti200 would smoke a 7500... 8500 all the way... :)

Ti4400 you can get for about $140 depending where you shop.

Ti4400 for $140? If you're not confusing the Ti4400 with the MX440 or something else, that would be incredible.

Don't confuse a Radeon 7500 with a Radeon 8500. The 7500 is a Dx7 card and the 8500 is a Dx8 card(like the Geforce 3's). So comparing a Radeon 7500 to a Geforce 3 Ti200 isn't really a fair comparison as the Geforce 3 is DirectX 8 and the 7500 isn't. Compare only the 8500 to the Geforce 3's and see where it stands. I'd recommend the Radeon 8500 over a Geforce 3 anyday.
