New HSF Q: Keep the pink Stuff or go with Arctic Silver II?

Post by TruckStuff »

The FedEx guy just dropped off my shiny new MP 1600+ Retail box. The HSF included has one of those pink pad deals on it where it should make contact with the core. However, I still have some Arctic Silver II from my last system build. My question is which should I use? If I go with the arctic silver, how do I get the pink stuff off? Thanks for the input.

I'd say use the ASII since you have it. As with getting the thermal pad off:

<I><b>"Thermal pads can be scraped off with a plastic tool that will not scratch the bottom then the remnants can be removed with a xylene based cleaner, (Goof Off and some carburetor cleaners) acetone, MEK, mineral spirits, or 99% pure isopropyl alcohol."</b></i>
