RAID not recognized by win2k

i want to run my win2k disk to do a repair,
the disc will start, go through the motions,,, and stop.
saying no drives have been found,press F3 to close

iv'e looked in the setup bios for enabling the so called " future ata 100 in first boot device" perameter. can't find it,,,,

paul's unofficial abit web site explains alot still no help

what am i doing wrong,,,,

My first question is: what exactly are you trying to repair?

A RAID (or any UDMA66/100) controller is treated by Windows as a SCSI controller. You MUST load the driver for the controller.

When you boot off the Win2K CD, the very first question it asks is if you have a SCSI or Other controller. You need to hit the key (F6 I think) within a certain amout of time or it'll continue.

You MUST have the controller drivers unzipped and ready to go on a FLOPPY DISK. They CANNOT be read off a CD or the hard drive as Windows Install will not yet have brought those devices online.

What type of contoller card are you using? You need to do what Flying Penguin said and load the drivers when Win2k starts.

if you have different RAID chipsets...
I.E. trying to move a RAID created by a HPT3xx controller to a Promise controller, the controller wouldn't be able to see the RAID also

i figured it out people

i upgraded my floppy from "Hot Rod 100 Pro" to hpt "370raid_2.0.1203.exe" (extracted and installed on 3 1/2 floppy.

changed 1st boot device to CDROM,,
2nd,,ATA-100
3rd,,floppy

did the old "F6",,,,,,

repair,,,,,,,,,,,everythings fine

went back and changed 1st boot device to ATA-100
