Okay I found the Toshiba 2805-S201 laptop which seem's incredible to me for the price.


It features :


Celeron 650 mhz (CeleronII I presume) 100 FSB (Yes 100 mhz)

64 mb of pc100 sdram sodimm (will get another 64 later)

13.3" TFT Active Matrix LCD Display with 1024x768 Res

Anyhow heres my questions - Is it really true the celeron 650 and above on the notebooks feature 100 mhz FSB? I confirmed it has this on 2 different sites...?

Also, I know a Geforce2 GTS would open up a can of whoopass on the Savage IX, but for a notebook, this card seems damn good considering the others were Trident CyberBlade and Ati 8 meg cards. All I remember is that the Savage was decent at lower res (perfect for laptop) and has S3TC and stuff.
Isnt it about comparable to a TNT2 Ultra? Or better? Worse?

Anyhow, I'm pleased with what I see for that price.

I think you mean a Savage 4... (IX = 9, IV = 4)

There are no GeForce2 GTS for laptop, so don't even compare it. The Savage4 will be ok for laptop, but a better laptop video card would be the ATi RageMobility, it uses the Rage128 engine and it's currently the fastest laptop video card.(The MX is not available, I only care about those that are available) The Savage4 will give you more drivers problem than ATi. The performance of the ATi Rage128 = a regular TNT2, the Savage4 should = a regular TNT.

As for the Celeron, most of them over 550mhz run at 100mhz bus for laptop.

No, actually he means IX(9)... as is shown in the specs of a similar or same laptop at buy.com

probably just a mobile version of the savage4.. but it is called the savage IX. I agree.. looks good for the price.

Insane Morphius: I knew about that, it's actually a modded GeForce2 MX, but it won't be available(to consumers) till early next year.

By the time it's available, ATi will have to Radeon ready to fight it. And personally I will support ATi for its quality, speed, and DVD(I also don't want Nvidia to become MS #2.)
