Help Me! WinXP will not boot!

After the initial loading screen, when the light/sky blueish screen appears, but before login, a box pops up saying that it cant find the local profile, will use a temp. profile for now, any changes made will not be saved.
then the box goes away and the welcome screen comes up, but then it just freezes there... mouse moves and all, but nothing else, cant get it to get any further.... any ideas? Im new to winXP and dont know much about the boot up process.
i tried recovery console... but it askes ofr admin password, and i enter it, but it says its invalid... go figure, the only account on the computer is mine...

The only solution I have is go to TweakXp and ask there.

have you tried going to last known good hardware configuration. i think press F5 and the select option to go to last known good hardware configuration.

FF: I think the 'last known good' doesn't work if you enter a name and password: after that it updates the 'last known' with the current one. Not positive tho, did the W2K Security class like two years ago

Jx: Is this a fresh install? an Upgrade, or just a system that has been fine and suddenly died? Any hardware changes lately? If it can't find a profile it might be looking for it on a domain controller.. is it a part of a network of any kind?
