Whats a good cheap set of 5.1 speakers? I want to test out this 5.1 sound on this XP333. Not lookin' to spend 400 even though i'd like to get a set of klipsch promedia's... Whats a decent set around 100 bucks preferably black that sounds good but yet don't break the wallet...

i haven't heard them so I don't know anything 'bout them :) The price is pretty good though.

I'd check the http://www.3dsoundsurge.com site and speakers section in the forum for good advice. There are lots of knowledgeable people there and their reviews are the best on the net IMO.
My opinion is that you're better off getting a set of 4.1 speakers than buying a 5.1 set for the same money. You will most likely get better quality sound that way. Check out the Logitech Z-560s for a very good 4.1 setup for ~$150. But if you are really set on 5.1, something like those Inspires, or even better, a flat panel Monsoon system, will do you well.

I second the recommendation for the Z560's,

I just bought them and they hit very hard, same 400 watts as the Klipsch but only half the price :)

Know where to get a set of those 560's at? Newegg has the 540's wonder how they sound?

Ive got the 3 piece Logitech speakers (younger bro of Z-560) and they are nice. Best Buy has the 4.1 set hooked up for public use, they are nice :) I was sadden to see that the Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 series (just recently started selling at BB) won't working.

I bought mine at Compusa,

Paid entirely too much IMHO, but way better than the klipsch

Newegg has the Z-560s sometimes, but I think it sells out pretty fast. I got mine from Dell for $110 on a really good deal in November/December. Check out Dell, as they have decent prices and really nice coupons.
The Z-540s are not nearly as nice as the Z-560s. They're not bad, but definitely are more value oriented.

You may have bought those cheaper speakers in the hot deals forum already, but you can get a good deal on the Z560s if you still want them.
Check the deal at http://www.bensbargains.net

I might be beating a dead horse here, but there's a great deal on the Z-560s right now. Go to http://www.gotapex.com/deals.php . Under Monday, there's a deal to get the speakers and a couple games, for around $110 shipped. If you want these, this is a great chance :)

If i was in the market for speakers, i'd go with these:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... 24-8188753

Yamaha TSS-1B 6-Piece Dolby Digital/DTS.

DTS decoder is the main attraction, I have not heard these first hand, but they look interesting.

I'd say the main attraction is the babe on the magazine cover.(lower left of page) :D :D

Thos look nice but don't have any power to them... The main attraction to the Z560's is the 400 watts combined from all the speakers... :D And d_b i got that magazine sittin' right here on my desk and damn she's a fine one!
