ZoneAlarm problem

I'm running ZoneAlarm (latest version) under WinXP. My problem is that when I launch a program (does not matter which one) to access the 'net ZoneAlarm constantly asks me if I want to allow the program to connect. It never remebers that I tell it to allow this program to always connect. Never had this problem under WinMe. Any ideas?

just a SWAG, but does this happen if you log on as an Admin equivalent? Another possible issue: are you on a network with a DNS server? And maybe wiping ZA out, remove the directory and install again? They claim it's XP compatible, and Zone Labs usually gets it right the first time out..

They STILL haven't fixed that yet huh? It's a bug with ZA and XP, it doesn't remeber anything... I tried everything, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc etc, wouldn't remember the programs so I said screw it. I use Sygate Personal FW now and it's perfect in XP...

I gave up on ZoneAlarm :( I'm now running Sysgate and all is well :) One thing I've noticed, though. My Windows shut-down time takes about 15 seconds longer to complete since I installed this program. Is this normal?

Yeah my shutdown is kinda slow as well, I guess Sygate is the culprit...

Is Sygate better than Tiny?

"Better" I don't know. It does the job just as well. I didn't like Tiny, it was too complex... every time I went to use GameSpy it wanted permission for every server it refreshed, what a pain in the ass. Sygate is simple and it works, I like it...

I think part of my problem was I was'nt logging on with a password.

so how can u not log on in an winxp system?
if there is only one user defined, you'd either have to enter a password or if there was no password set, you'd just default into auto login for the administrator account (the primary user it asks u for during initial setup)

I'm the only user so XP would just log me on as Admin., but I had no PW set/saved. I'm not sure if this was causing the problem since I no longer am running ZoneAlarm, but I was told this may have been my problem.

I think XP, like W2K can choose to always log on as the same person as you said : but the user doesn't have to hit enter or anything so the often think there is no password/security. I don't like this option, but set someone up yesterday to log in as a user named Power User with a preset password.
