Which winmodem chipsets s*ck the least?

Post by Lmandrake »

I need to buy a PCI modem ASAP, so I am going to go to a computer show tomorrow to see what I can find. I will buy somthing generic, i.e. "Happy Flying Galaxy Song V.90 Modem" and since PCI hardware modems are rare and probably more than I want to spend, I will end up with a winmodem. I don't know much about winmodems, except some chipsets are better than others. I certainly don't know which ones are the "best".

So if anybody remembers what a modem is, which winmodem chipsets are better etc. I would certainly appreciate your input....

Thanks

i've had a couple of those too - never any probs, esp with installation. i've had winmodems that flat out wouldn't install like the "happy joyous inernet signaling dove of the morning" ones at comp shows .
