i'm pretty sure you may have thought about it but.... why not use a "coupler/connector" or whatever you call it???

sort of. I would rather have a cable that was male on one side and femail on the other though.

It's possible to make but to hide the wires on the female side could be difficult.

What for.?
A coupler would be the best way to do it IMHO.
You could make one fairly simple with a Keystone connection that normally goes in a wall plate....just dont put it in a wall plate.
How long are we talking?
I could do that for you ... but like mentioned above... it might not be the cleanest conection.
another idea would be to get a coupler and hardwire it.
are you trying to make a "pig tail" so that you can change a patch wire to a crossover wire?

what I want it for is my lego box. I have the wireless nic for when I am at home and I get a clean looking box, but I was thinking it would be a good lan /show off box as well and there wouldnt be wireless there. so I have a nic installed and just want to have it setup with liek One lego brick missing and the plug in its place so I can just plug in a cable if I want...would do it at home also for faster file transfers.

so I dont really care how it would look on the inside. jsut a clean looking plug in.

so what ya think?

Wire a Belkin punchdown jack to a wire and put a plug on the other end. Looks like this:

Should fit in roughly a 2 block space sideway - you'll have to make a mask maybe and glue it in place.
You can get the makings at a well stocked computer store or even Home Depot. I have all the makings if you get stuck - be happy to make one for you.
Frankly it would be easier to buy a female to female adapter and glue that in place since it's a square block and smooth on the sides.

that is exactly like what I was gonna do ... what FP showed.
I have white or orange.
let me know about how long you want it and Ill make you one.
Dont worry about a fee...consider it my donation to the leggo box
Edit: I would dremel off the clip on it (note pic above) and you can fit it in some how.

yea hook me up man.

Orange would be cool. 8"-12" nothing major.
mucho thanks guys. I finished the border around the slot dvd earlier today....on a shitty note I noticed the mboard doesnt have the C-media sound like it is suposed to and only has that cappy via stuff. epox will be getting a call on that tomarow. other then that though system has been up and running.
I think orange would be great, I have all my stuff outlined. power button us out lined in white, ekect on the cdrom is blue and the slot is outlined in yellow.
