weird plug on 350 watt ps

i got a weird plug on a 350 watt ps. it is 4 pin female arranged in a square has clip and is notched like atx mainboard connector has 2 yellow wires and 2 black arranged yellow/top black bottom. what is it for? also has 1 plug like what you find on an at ps 6 pin inline 3 black wire 2 orange 1 red. weirdest shit i ever seen on an atx ps

Not posative but pretty sure it is used on P4 mother boards

it says its got a fan sensor. will the fan work if i dont plug this stuff in?

I think the fan will work if you leave it unplugged, but if you plug it into the mobo's spare fan plug then your motherboard will get an RPM reading from it.

Nope, that is a spec ATX 2.04 power supply, which is the requirement for Pentium 4 systems. The 20-pin is wired like any old ATX, the 4-pin is two +12v lines and two grounds, and the 6-pin is three grounds, two +3.3v and one +5v feed.

The 6=pin connector has actually been in use for years, Supermico boards usually have them.

The fan will work even with the sensorcable not plugged into your mobo, it's just included to allow monitoring of the PSU fan speed via a mobo fan header ... most mobo's have up to 4 fan headers, some have one named "Fpwr" for a fan sensor from the PSU.
You can use it but you don't have to.

thanx guys it does work good, holds better voltages than the 250 watt. ill just tie those other cables away
