Ugghhh life sucks there's 2 many choices hehehe I have 300 to do upgrades with and i don't know what to do... I want to get the Chieftech 1030B case and all black drives and some rounded cables. I also want to get a KT266a board(which one i don't know too many to choose from) and an XP Processor. I've got an Epox 8k7a now and happy with that. Place your vote on what i should do if it was your money... I'm stumped... Wish i had about 100 more and i'd do it all! hehe

Is the Chaintek 1030 case the same as an Antec 1030? If so get it. I bought an Antec SX830 when they first came out and it has proven to be the best money I have spent on a computer yet. The SX830 is the same as the 1030 just minus one drive bay

Yeah the Chieftech is the same as the Antec SX1030B. I like how it has places for 4 fans in it... That way i wouldn't have to hack up the side of the case for a 120mm or so... Instead i could put a nice window in it

I just saw the Chaintech case at newegg for $69 if you don't get it you will be missing the boat dude. I paid $80 for mine and thought I got a good deal.

Yeah i think i'm gonna go with the Chieftech case a 24x10x40 Black Lite One 16x Lite On DVD Black of course... I sold my beige 24x Lite On and 16x DVD already. And get a 1700+ AXP

I can swap out the mobo later... This 8k7a has served me right for about 4 months and i can't justify gettin' a new one just yet... Plus there ain't enough of a performance increase going to the kt266a for me to justify gettin' a new board. Gona pick up a used a kk266 and put my 1.33 in the womans computer. That otta be a nice little speed boost over her Cel366@550

That and i don't like the fact that most KT266a boards won't let CPU voltage go over 1.85 without a mod... .1 could determine if you get 100mhz more out of your chip

I'll have a used KK266 for sale in about 10 days. LMK if interested.
Sell your 1.33 and get a morgan core Duron. You can make about 40-45 bux towards your next upgrade. You can see here how my morgan Duron runs.

How much ya gonna want for that kk266 Vid... That should work out good i'll have the money for a board in about 2 weeks.

For you? 75 bux. That too much?. I'll throw in some free stuff too like a fan/hs, free tube of Artic Silver and some other "secret stuff" :lol . It's in mint shape and I have all the stuff that came with it except for the IDE and floppy cables. I'm sure I have some of those around, just not sure if they're the ones that came with the board.
2 weeks would be fine. No rush but LMK if ya want it and I'll save it for ya. It's a good one too. I've had it up to 160+ FSB with mem settings max'd. You'll need some good ram to do that tho.

It's the KK266 ( non-RAID ) version. Revision 2.1
Sweet board. If there's a better sdram mobo out there than the KK266's, I haven't seen it.

If ya got a HSF better than a volcano 2 that would work

Its just gonna be clocked at 1.33. I have a tube of the Org. AS still and some of the new Alumina so i got plenty of goop around here... Secret stuff is good ... As long as its not a white powder thats been comin' from yer area

j/k of course. All i should need is a ata/100 cable i have all the others. I've got PC100 Infenion that runs CAS2 at 133 so that should do the ram trick for it... It don't need to be a power house just something faster than the old cel@550 she's got now. My first Athlon board was a KK266 i loved it... Before i got htis 8k7a i had this 1.33 at 10x160 with some Mosel cranked to the max. Wish i still had the ram laying around

LEt me ponder it for a day or 2. I'm still debating on wether or not i want to get a Kt266a board. Leanin' towards the Shuttle AK35G or whatever it is.. since its one of the few kt266a boards that lets ya go over 1.85 on the cpu.

no rush, make it 70 if ya think the price is too high. The fan/hs I have is a retail job that came off an AMD XP 1600+. Brand new, still in the plastic case, never been used.

I'll testify to the rocklike stability of the KK266; I ain't sellin' mine.
Todd, have any of yours shown the initialization difficulty with GeForce cards?

I've tried 2 GeForce Cards ( CL GF-1 32ddr and Geforce 2 64MB PRO) and both worked fine on the KK266.

Vid that stock fan off of that 1600+ would do the trick... To me they look like a Volcano 5 or one of the coolermasters. I got my dad a 1600+ retail... Holdin' his XP at 102F unloaded. Just going to be stock speed so i don't need a massive HSF like i've got on it now.

There ya go! LMK if you're in and we'll take it from there. I've got all my new stuff coming in prolly MON of next week, so the kk266 will be available say TUE or WED.

Well just ordered my stuff from newegg...
Chieftec 1030B case
24x10x40 Lite On Black
Black Floppy
AMD XP 1700+ I went with the retail since it was only 10 bucks more than the OEM... 3 yrs vs 30 days is worth 10 bucks to me
Still need to get the DVD drive. Haven't sold the Toshiba yet so i didn't have enough funds to get it this round...
