Hi everyone, i'm new here, i been doing some research on the overlocking scene..and it's great :)

But since i am a noob on putting together a pc, i was wondering if anyone has any advice on this set up, or any possible conflicts i might have.

is this setup OC'able?

Lian-Li PC-60+USB Aluminum Cases
SOYO K7V DRAGON+ Plus VIA KT266A ATX
ATI RADEON 8500 LE 64MB DDR
ENERMAX EG365P-VE( FC ). 350W Power supply
AMD ATHLON XP 1900+/266 FSB PROCESSOR CPU
CRUCIAL MICRON 256MB 32x64 PC 2100 DDR RAM
Seagate Barracuda IV 60GB 7200RPM ST360021A Hard Drive
Thermaltake VOLCANO 6Cu. Heatsink + Dual Ball-Bearing Fan, FAN Speed: 4550±10% RPM. Max. Air Flow: 32CFM. Pure Copper base
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Is the 1900+ xp unlocked? ( i think i know what unlocking means..hopefully)

Do i just have to do bio's changes to OC?

Any ideas and inputs would be greatly appreciated. You guys are very knowledgeable in here.

P.s. are there any guides out there to show how to put a pc setup like this together from scratch? with minimal amount of headache to a noob :)

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. maybe one day i can learn how to mod, and make awsome case's like you guys. :]

is the XP 1900+ unlocked?

if not, it'd be in your best interest to unlock it prior to playing around with the speed settings so you have access to changing your multiplier.
overclocking isn't an exact science... you just basically play around w/ the FSB and the multiplier settings until you find the fastest combination of multiplier X FSB = total clock speed.

now remember, having a higher FSB mean better performance - even if the final clock speed is higher...
(i.e) 11.5x143 = 1645 is faster than 12.5x133 = 1664

oh and BTW, welcome to PCA! Enjoy your stay! :D

My recommendations on parts would be to get 512 MB of RAM rather than 256 MB, replacing the Seagate drive with the Western Digital 600BB, and maybe going for a NVIDIA card rather than an ATI card, though that is sort of a tough choice. There are some very good prices on the GF3 Ti200 series at newegg.com. Also, I don't know if you have chosen a sound card, DVD/CD drive, or burner (if you want one) yet. For sound cards, I'd go with the Soundblaster Audigy series. The OEM version at newegg is a good price for the card. For DVD, my choice is either the Pioneer 16x slot loader or the Lite-On 16x tray loader. I think the Lite-On is supposed to be the better drive, but I like the slot loading of the Pioneer. Also check out the Lite-On 24x burner.

For the best prices, look at newegg.com (if you cannot tell, I'm a fan of theirs)

Good luck :)

I answered your same question in our overclocking forum. Ya don't need to post the same topic in several forums here to get help. ;)

And yes, Newegg rocks the house. As do the sites in our Buy & Sell link at top. They are all pca approved. ;)
