Hi Gang,
I've about run out of ideas now. I get these weird artifacts in my sound, scratches, pops, and the whole like. The soundcard is an SB Live! 5.1 though I've tried this card in another system and it was fine, and I've tried other "known good" soundcards on this system with the same results. I did notice that whenever I hooked my IPAQ up to the USB port the sound immediately goes down the hill, and I thought that was my problem, but it's still happening. (Im going to get rid of the IPAQ because of it - dont use it anyway). I've listed what I've done to the system to troubleshoot this, as well as the specs. Any ideas from you guys if I missed anything would be great.
TS Steps I took:
- Swapped CPUs
- Swapped SCSI card, drives, cables
- Moved soundcard to diffrent PCI slots
- Changed IRQ's to one less crowded, then to weird combos that couldnt possible work, and didnt
- Upgraded from Win2k to WinXP. Then tried 98, 98se and Me, same problem on all platforms.
- Changed memory all around, put in new stuff, etc. Nothing.
- Swapped video cards with no improvement
- Upgraded BIOS
- Turned off ACPI, turned it back on, played with it
- Removed all perhipherals
The stats on the box are:
ASUS TUA266
p3 1ghz/133
1024mb Crucial PC133
Adaptec AHA-2940U2W
2 x 18.2GB Toshiba 15,000RPM LVD SCSI2 drives
SB Live! Platinum 5.1
GE Force2 64MB SDR
So Im just curious if anyone else is having any problems with this model motherboard, as I don't know a lot of people using it, and it just seems to act "funny" to me. Basically the system runs like a champ, except for the sound.
