When connected online(dialup), I keep getting "Not responding" errors all the time. MS got six reports in a row from me. Before any of you say to download and reinstall IE6, keep in mind I am on a dialup right now and downloading IE6 is not gonna happen.

Honestly I think XP is an overbloated POS. Does anyone else get these errors ?

2 words.... THE MODEM....
That modem in there is the biggest piece of shit there ever was.... Get ya a Lucent PCMCIA modem....
I never had the modem in my laptop but i've had modems in my PC with that chip in it.. They are junk... Gave me trouble connecting if i could get connected it wouldn't stay connected for long..... Trust me it ain't XP its the modem! It would hang IE up on my computer to where i'd have to three finger salute to get out of it and everything else you could think of. I got a Lucent modem and all troubles went away. Now i'm assuming your still on that laptop of your Wife's with XP on it correct

Don't wanna look like to much of an ass hehe

hehe, $1500 laptop with an internal modem. I think Sony has updated drivers for it. XP does suck. When it comes off of the Pipes screen saver, after at least an hour in screen saver mode, it does nothing. I have to cycle the power switch for a forced reboot. All power saving is in the off mode when the power cord in plugged in. I had 98SE on it, it ran much faster than XP. Too bad I got BSODs with all the modem drivers that I tried. I eventually found modem drivers that didn't drop a BSOD but the thing would lock up tight when it got done dialing.
