Creative Ads Spyware/Adware to drivers :(

Post by Darkheart »

Just installed the new version of Creative Player for my DAP (known in your neck of the woods as the NOMAD). After installing happened to check task manager and found a program called NewsUpd.exe running in the Creative Directory and using up 94% of the processor resources!

Here's a look at the .ini settings:
PlayMode=3
PlaySpeed=2
PlayRandom=0
[PLAYCENTER2]
AppResource=C:\Program Files\Creative\PlayCenter2\CTP2Res.dll
OEMID=
Version=2.20.04
AppPath=
SilentContentUpdate=1
HasCategory=0
ProductCategory=PLAYCENTER2
MarqURL=www.europe.creative.com
PlayMode=3
PlaySpeed=2
[ListProductCategories]
NumProductCategory=1
ProductCategory1=PLAYCENTER2|PLAYCENTER2
[NewsUpd]
RestoreLoginSessionDisable=0
RestoreEnableAutoDial=0

creepy huh?

Man Creative have got worse and worse with making you do stuff for their drivers now they are building cr*p into the drivers, this is really getting up my nose.

i was like "mafudge?! is this a trojan?"

but i went through everything and it wasn't, i still have no idea what that was
