Hey,
I am locked out of the bois on my ibm thinkpad T21 and was wondering if anyone knows how to get around this? I have heard that i would have to replace the bios on it or replace the mainboard and would like to know if anyone has links to sites that have the parts I need or if anyone does this type of thing.

Thanks.

If it's just the BIOS password you should be able to wipe the CMOS to clear the password (see the manual or go to IBM's website).

If it's the HDD or the mobo password you're screwed and need to send it to either IBM or to a canadian company that can unlock it (don't remember the name but just do a search for "THINKPAD PASSWORD UNLOCK" and it'll come up.

Last time I checked prices were $100 to unlock the mobo, $150 to unlock the HDD but leaving it wiped clean, and $500 to unlock the HDD and salvage the data.

Try REAL HARD to remember the password.

Thinkpad.... the paranoid's laptop... :)
