My main concern is performance. I have heard you need 25% extra CPU speed just to maintain performance versus Win2k.

I enjoy it.
runs smooth and the driver base is good.
Lots of features.
I would recommend it.
BTW: I have 1.4Ghz, 512Meg, GeF3...

cool...so who is handing out free copies? :D

j/k.

i'd like to try it, but it would go on a secondary system...win2000 has been too good to me. :)

I was going to say, wouldn't XP be a step down from your current 2k system?

As I said in other threads ... I'll stay on 2k as long as XP is unable to show any performance improvements in games, that's my main concern. I won't have a problem staying with 2k if there is no performance boost ... and I can get the purdy gfx options via Object Desktop :p

yah, there seems to be no good reason to move to xp. and honestly, i hate their new desktop

their new desktop is completely removeable. it's kinda cool thinking about windows as having a skinable interface. but you can diable that visual and have the regular old windows desktop. and to be honest, they made the old desktop look a little fancier too, i like the new look of the icons.

but for myself, i'm sticking with 2k. works great and is nice and stable...

I'm going to buy XP, but only because I get if for cheaper. I won't upgrade the family's 2k box but I'll use it for a clean install on mine.

I have it and it runs great, the new detonators for winXP came out which greatly improved 3D graphics. Now would be a good time to upgrade to XP.

I use RC2. Once you get rid of the lollipop desktop, it's nice.

I have a good friend at work that upgraded from Windows ME to XP, and he has no problems. Personally, I don't like performing upgrades with Windows software, as you tend to leave lots of left over DLL's, but he says it works and had no complaints.

k, tried it on 2 sytems here but not my main one yet. First tried it on a 566 celeron system with win 2k installed and on a soyo mobo. Didn't format, just tried installing through windows. Tried several times and each time once the agreement window came up it was real buggy. The curser wasn't controllable and the mouse did not move it where I wanted it to go. Couldn't even use the tab key to move things. It would just white out wherever the curser would go. Using a regular ps2 mouse and tried rebooting and trying some more but the exact same things happened.

Tred it on a p3 600 with me installed on it. Yes I hate it too so that's why I wanted to change. Anyway the install on this system went great. No problems at all. Had both a logitech serial mouse and a ps2 mouse attached and both worked fine all the way through. Except after XP was fully installed then the logitech will not work. Tried everything, uninstalling and reinstalling and changing serial ports but still no go. It might be because I had regular win98 drivers loaded for it initially, I don't know. Tried installing the win2k drivers but still no go for the logitech trackball. But the ps2 mouse works fine.

ok, I like it actually from what I am seeing so far. I like the looks of it, but I am partial to blue. Of course the looks can all be changed and customized. What's funny is I have a v3 3k installed in it with the last win98 drivers and forgot to install the v3 win2k drivers but it is working just fine in XP. I heard voodoo cards do not work with XP yet but this one is just fine so far.

Only bug I've found for now is it will not shut down properly. Instead it just restarts. You have of course the restart or shut down options and no matter which I select it just restarts. Have to just unplug it or flick the switch on the ps off. I've read where others are having this problem also.
