OK , I just ordered a brand new , MSI 850 Pro2LE (MS-6523) P4 ATX Motherboard . I got the mobo in Friday , opened it today to put together a system . I installed the mobo in the case and started to install the video card . But the AGP slot on the mobo is mounted upside down . ???? The long section of the agp slot is towards the rear of the case and the short section of the agp slot is towards the front of the computer . (Backwards) . WTF ???? Anybody else ever run into anything like this ? Am I just an idiot and am doing something wrong ?

That is the strangest thing I've ever seen. I fact I popped the side off my comp just to compare. It's backwards! No way would my GF or old v3 fit in that slot!
I wonder what gives??????????

the agp slot looks the same as on my shuttle ak31 - you sure you're not trying to put the card in that RIMM socket that wandered away from the others?

Also it's an agp pro - not sure what that is.

OK , just got it figured out . The AGP Pro is the difference . I am building this for a friend and he was planning on using his old video card for a while longer (V3 2000 agp) . The AGP Pro has another notch that the V3 card does not have . The V3 does not support AGP Pro . So now he has to upgrade his video card also .
Thanks

No I don't think he does. The card should fit. If I remember correctly NO mass market cards r agp pro. That's just for the professionals. A standard agp should plug into it just fine.

Or just put the card in backwards and run the monitor cable in

May blow the vid card, but tis worth a shot if hes gotta upgrade anyways

John , most of the newer agp cards will work . The older cards will not fit because they lack a second notch in the cards . The VooDoo cards will not work . I haave an old Diamond Speedstar A50 agp card that will not fit the slot either . But my Radeon fits just fine in it . I will probably just sell him the Radeon and buy me something else .
