I am running a Gigabyte GA-7DXR at 1.33GHz on a 1.33 GHz processor. At that speed it runs at 104 F (cpu temp). This is down in my basement too, so I don't know how it runs where I am going to put it when I am done building. Hard drive not installed yet either. I was just wondering, because once I get it up and running with OS, software, and stuff I may overclock it to at least 1.5 GHz. When I first installed my CPU, the speed was 1000MHz, because I didn't set the jumpers. At that speed it ran at about 97F. What would be a safe temperature for my CPU to be at so I can get the most power out of it without burning anything?

FYI: I am using a SK6 with the fan off of the Volcano II. And using 4 Antec case cooling fans and one Magic (all 80mm). I may replace all in the future with SUNON's. But, for now I should be fine.

you dont want to go any higher then 50C anything under that is Good. Try putting the FSB at 150 and go Up from there that is usually the best way to go.

My mobo manual only goes up to 150 FSB. :\ But, let me try 140 first, and see how hot that goes.

Thanks for the Celcius temp, at 133 FSB my cpu runs at 40 C. Let me see what I can do.

Ok, here's the resaults.

1390 MHz (140mhz FSB) = 40C / 104F

1490 MHz (150mhz FSB) = 42C / 107F

My 7DXR manual doesn't go up past 150 MHZ FSB for my jumper setup. What would I do to make it even higher?

FYI: I have a CPU frequency Override jumper. Is that for voltage?

try 10.5*150 those are Damn good temps

Cool, didn't know if those temps were good or not. I am not doing any hard core testing, just letting it sit while I'm in the setup for a little while.

I will try that 10.5*150 FSB later. Will share results.

No, LOL, not the NOTRH POLE. Just the basement. It's in the basement, and pretty cool down there right now. I think I may bring it upstairs and test it. I will keep ya posted.

What is the normal voltage my processor is using? Cause right now the CPU frequency is in Auto. What would 10.5 do?

Uhhhhhh your CPU temps are good for no processor activity. Put some sort of a load and see what happens. I ran Hot CPU Tester or something today and my temps didn't go over 50C from what I saw. Running a 1.4 Ghz Athlon @ 1.4 Ghz w/ 1.75V CORE voltage. 45C idle in Win2k. Using a Coolermaster HSF w/ Artic Silver II.

Can't do much of anything until I get my hard drive. I hoped that it would come on Friday, but instead, it's going to come on Tuesday. :\ I don't have an OS yet anyway.

If I am wrong please correct me but shouldn't you wait until you get the hard drive and an OS installed before you start over clocking.

I'd have to agree with you. I put the jumper's back to 1.33 GHz until I get everything running. I was just wondering what safe temps were, and ended up overclocking.
