Abit and Plextor Help needed

After reconfiging my rig I have one or two small glitches. ( At least for now 
) I am using a KT7A RAID mobo with a 1 Ghz T bird. When I go to the device manager and check the drivers for P IDE and S IDE they say Microsoft. That is the same for the VIA BUS Master. I have Plextor 16/10 set as Master and a Kenwood 72X Slave on P IDE and an Internal ZIP set as Master on S IDE. I have 2 IBM deskstars, ATA 100 on IDE 3 and a MAxtor ATA100 on IDE 4. (Please don't recommend RAID.) The Plextor say MSFT drivers as well. At this point the Plextor is recognized but won't burn.
Please help in anyway possible. Some have told me the VIA drivers and this mobo a F up and have told me to get a new mobo ( If so which one. I am not an O'cer). I have never been able to get the Plextor to run right and the seek times for my HDD's seem slow.
