one of my buddies is selling a brand new Western Digital 20gig/7200rpm HD to me for $79. Price aside, are these drives any good.
i currently have an IBM Deskstar 9gig and the extra space could help.

The new Western Digital 7200 RPM drives are very good, up there with the IBM 60GXPs.

If you haven't already purchased it Compusa and Best Buy have a maxtor 40gig 7200 for $99. The one at compusa you get a free Palm M100 after a $130 rebate. If you want that anyway. Otherwise 99 for those 40 gig 7200 hd's is a deal.
Or office depot has the maxtor 30gig 7200 for 89 after a $30 rebate and Circuit City has the WD 40gig 7200 for 129.99 but you get back a $50 gift card by mail which you can then use to get $50 worth of merchandise at CC effectively making the final cost $80.
But that WD is a good drive too. Not as quiet as the maxtor though. Wonder why he's selling it though eh.

Just so you're clear, the 40gigs at Compusa and Best Buy require no rebates for the 99 price. At compusa you don't have to get that palm.
