Did some more homework and ended up with the I5-750. With a modest overclock it spanks the Phenom II 3.6 across the board - people consistently get 3.75 GHZ plus with this chip on air - at that speed it totally smokes the Phenom.

Ordered all the stuff from newegg - saturday a week will be build day :)

Yeah, if you're overclocking, it's hard to ignore Intel right now. AMD is great if you are sticking to stock speeds though.
