The Aero 7
ok... you have a fan. the motor will produce X amout of heat. X will change depending on the speed. If airflow (A) falls below a certian point X will be greater then A and will over heat.
IF A<X motor=overheat
This is verry possible. Take a car. if you leave it idle it might get up to 220. why? the engine is making X amount of heat. since its running slow.. the fan A is not spinning as fast and its getting hotter then normal. now raise the speed some and X will be hotter, but since A is now more it can handel the extra heat X is creating and thus the overall temp will go back down to normal (190-200).

I cannot find any Aero 7 for sell in Hong Kong after I complaint to Consumer Council.
About 3000rpm ones:
You can see that the leaf is not exactly on the balanced mode, i.e. Heat will keep on the left side since it had less space. The heat flow of Aero is mainly from up to down, if the airflow is not strong, heat of CPU will be transferred greatly to Aero 7's motor and plastic leaf, which leads the leaf more unbalanced.
For longer use, i.e. around 1 month < 3000rpm, it would be suddenly died by overheating of motor.
You can even touch and feel that motor of Aero is hotter than the heatsink if the motor speed is slow.
Some of us are very unlucky that they burnt their AMD Athlon CPU and motherboard also because their motherboard did not have CPU overheat temperature shutdown function. Luckily no serious fire accident is reported.
By the way, is Thermaltake Volcano 11+ a better choice?

We haven't tested a volcano 11 yet, though one is on the way. I am familiar with the fan the v11 uses and it is loud. The best ones we do know of now are Thermalright heatsinks like the SK-7, SLK-800, AX-7 and use a decent 80mm fan with them. Or even a 92mm one as I use (but not on the ax-7) . With those thermalright heatsinks you can cool very well with just a quiet fan, and still o/c.

well, I just bought one (got here this past monday--2 days ago I think)...does that mean that this heating problem is something I should be concerned about? I'm not going to be installing the thing for about another week and a half anyway, but it'd be nice to have a heads up on what to expect/prepare for.

I asked the distributer of Aero 7 in Hong Kong, Hornington. The staff said Aero 7+ (80cm version) will be launched the end of May. I'll still buy one to test.
By the way, since I used a Delta fan to cool down the motor, and it still had no problem. But in the other friends in HK, they really burnt their AMD CPU.

yeah...I still haven't put in the Aero 7 (it is NOT the Aero7+, although I did buy it in the US on 5/6), but I plan to do so within the week. It doesn't come with a fan control...so, how should I monitor the RPMs?? is the Motherboard a reliable source? And what's a good speed to run the thing at? Would installing a baybus be the best/safest thing to do? And, do I even have to worry about any of this...was the problem fixed before I bought the thing?

<b>Sean</b>, a 92mm fan will fit an slk800 easily. But attach it before placing it on the cpu. You might have to slightly bend the clip on one side, but no problemo. 
<b>marscheese</b>, the Aero 7 you received has no fan controller? It is suppose to come with one where you can place either in a pci slot or 3.5' bay. And the fan is suppose to have a seperate fan monitor to plug to your mobo. Reading rpm from the mobo and mobo monitor is close enough.
From what i gather, it's best to run it past 3000 rpm, if you received the early version. But according to coolermaster you should have the fixed version. I'd still feel the motor at times just to check. I've checked mine and it's always been cool, so maybe mine was ok.
