I have no loyalty to Hardware Companies. Which ever CPU,Motherboard or Video card gives me grief I hate
The P4 is more or less a Prototype. I'm sure within a year it will be a contender for the actual speed crown. By then they will be using a different chipset that will support DDR instead of Rambus. Hopefully the competition between AMD and Chipzilla will continue to keep prices down.
NOLF is a pretty cool game (minus some really stupid things). I can run the highest quality @ 1024x768x32, 32 bit, and I only have a TNT2. It looks just fine. I'm not sure why they recommend a 750 Mhz/256 MB/64 Video Ram setup.
And on topic, my next rig will likely be AMD.

I would go with AMD any day of the week. Now, a year ago...I would have said Intel all the way, however times have changed and AMD kicks @$$. I mean....what would you choose a puter with a 200mhz bus...or one with a measly 100 to 133mhz bus? The numbers speak for themselves. The P!!! just can not touch the Athalon. Just my .02 cents.
It seems that everyone is going for AMD... Do you think Intel is in the same position that 3dfx was in a few years ago? Like ignoring what people want and go for whatever they want coz they are the king?
Yes Intel has been trying to get its way no matter what the industry and customers want. Intel has new products out there and in development that they will be competing with and crank up the speeds on. In short Intel has a gameplan unlike 3dfx 2 years ago. Intel is still making money, has plenty of money in the bank and will be in no danger of being bought by a competitor (or going bankrupted whichever comes first for 3dfsucks}. Bottom line is Intel is still going to be making cpu's 2 years from now. Will 3dfx be making videocards in 2 years? Doubtful. Also AMD and the other cpu makers are in no position to supply the market with all the cpu's it needs. So while Intel is arrogant they are in a much better position than 3dfx ever was.
