hmmm
i've had that problem before...
intel cards and 3com cards should have no problem getting detection..
could be the card's fried... NIC's tend to die easily...
did you check for functionality? pop it in another system and see

Can you download the drivers and force an instal through Add Hardware in the Control Panel. Just don't let it search for the device just tell it what you are installing

That isn't always the best solution but it has worked for me in the past.

Thanks guys...I finally got it going...
I had to search forever on Intels website and I found a utility that forced the card to use plug and play...
then it worked not sure why or how.
I have never had to do that before...pita
funny thing was I couldnt get on the internet from that comp so I couldnt download the drivers or utility and then my floppy was acting up on this one so I couldnt copy it for some reason....argh
got it going for now...
thanks again

I'm still using ISA nic's in all my pc's at home, and the cards are not detected unless I enable the PnP function in the nic's setup. You must have a very old card WW.

Yea it is ild..I have 3 nic's but two are pci in this comp are the same brand so they show up as the same and confuses me when setting things up...lol
But funny thing is that isa card was detected every time in win 98 and win me on this comp but not on the other and I want to install XP on this one so I read you cannot use isa cards in XP.
I got it working with that utility.
thanks all
