Does it work with a NON ECC stick of DDR ram?

Has anyone got it working before?

THANKS!

It may work but if it does you get no benefit from it being ECC as to enable ECC you have to have all ECC RAM. As ECC is much more expensive than standard RAM I dunno why it would be worth mixing.

Well, I found a DDR ECC Crucial stick for 29$ shipped...Would there be a chance that it wouldn't work?

As long as your motherboard supports ECC DDR RAM you should be ok. Oh and bear in mind there is a mild performance hit for using ECC RAM as opposed to standard RAM.

The only place I use ECC is in servers (usually with large amounts of RAM 1GB+) so no I've never tried mixing it. I am sure that if you use some ECC and some Non-ECC then the RAM will not be able to use the ECC fucntion. Wether ECC will happily work with non-ECC is something I've never needed to find out, sorry.

Eck, I don't wanna use ECC, don't care for it.. ;)

I just wanted to make sure a non-ecc dimm would work with an ecc dimm...

Thanks for all your help. :)

I have both ECC and non-ECC running mixed on a A7V, it all depends on your motherboard but most shouldnt have a problem.
