Athlon or Duron?

Post by The Scud »

I'm using my PC for games, web, cad drafting and some VB programming. Is there a real difference between a Duron and an Athlon to make me want to buy one over the other. Will i notice a real difference? Should i spend the extra money? How much more frame per second are we talking about?

I got a Abit KT7 with a Geforce2 Mx and 256mb CAS2 ram

Thanks

the differance between the 1g Tbird and duron is $10 go with the Tbird. yes you will notice a differance...I went from a duron at 900ish to a tbird at 850 and there was an improvement.

i read a few reviews long ago generalizing the performance difference between the duron and tbird as being 10-15% on average (obviously depending on what you're doing...)

The difference in performance between the two chips is no longer justified by the price. Go with the Tbird.
